Permafrost Price, Discount and Editions

Updated 2026-10-14 · Last checked 2026-10-14 · Early Access

Permafrost is a paid game. The US Steam snapshot on 14 October 2026 shows a $24.99 list price and a 20% launch discount. The Early Access FAQ says the price is likely to rise before 1.0, so the launch discount is not a permanent floor.

I read the store’s edition comparison and the store-search prices for the four add-ons on 14 October 2026. The numbers below are US dollars. The publisher also said launch pricing includes custom regional pricing, and I did not fetch every country code, so I am not printing a euro or yen table.

US prices on 14 October 2026

These are Steam US-dollar prices. The base-game launch offer is 20% off until 23 October 2026. Companion and Ultimate are Steam bundles with additional bundle savings; their figures are not universal prices across stores.

Add-ons sold separately

Steam search listed Official Companion at $7.99 ($6.39 on sale), plus Cookbook, Original Soundtrack, and Frozen Metropolis novel at $4.99 each ($3.99 on sale). There is also an Alaska Gold Fever bundle on the store page. None of these are required to play. The Companion, Cookbook and novel are digital extras, not in-game recipes or gameplay upgrades.

GOG and Epic also sell the game. Check their own regional checkout rather than applying the Steam bundle totals to them. GOG describes the Companion Guide, Cookbook and novel as available in English and German only; the game itself supports nine text languages.

Questions

Is Permafrost free?

No. The US list price checked on 14 October 2026 was $24.99.

Which edition should I buy?

The base game is the playable build. Companion and Ultimate add a digital book, cookbook, soundtrack, and novel. They do not add a different game mode in the store text I read.
