Permafrost Can’t Join Friends? Co-op Connection Fixes

Start with session setup and the official known-issue checks. The host must use Host Multiplayer and reach the cabin. The 11 October 2026 patch fixed Steam invites and Join Game, with the guest already in the game’s main menu. That does not guarantee every connection failure is fixed.
I lined the symptoms up from the co-op guide, the community co-op page, and the 10–11 October patch notes. I did not find an official port-forward list. Because sessions are Steam friend sessions, I am not telling you to open a port. I also will not claim you never need one.
Checks in order
The 10 October patch also made the friends-only list prefer friend worlds and show more servers. If you tested on launch night, update both clients and try the list again before you reinstall.

If the list is still empty
If those checks fail, report the exact error, both game versions, whether the host reached the cabin, join-list versus invite behavior, and whether Steam is online. Include a save or log only through the official publisher upload channel linked below. Do not post passwords or Steam authentication tokens publicly.

Check Host Multiplayer, host reaching the cabin, the password and four-player limit, Steam online mode, and VPN. No reliable failure-frequency data establishes a single usual cause.
Do Steam invites work?
The 11 October 2026 patch says invites and Join Game were fixed. Start the game and stay at its main menu before accepting; unresolved cases should be reported.
